Races, training and results

Races

A race has a liberation point and a list of entrants. If you have coordinates for the loft and the liberation point, the distance is computed for you.

Results can be entered by hand or imported. Speed is derived from distance and flight time, in metres per minute, the unit used in results sheets.

Importing club results

For races in your branch calendar, results can be pulled directly from columba.ro. You pick the race from the calendar rather than hunting for a link.

Matching is done on the ring, not the fancier's name. If a bird does not appear, check the ring format first.

Training

Training is deliberately kept separate from racing. A training flight has no ranking; it has returns: who came back, and how quickly.

The return rate from training says something a results sheet does not. A bird that comes back consistently but fades in a race has a different problem from one that gets lost in training.

Comparison

Select two to six birds from the list and see them side by side: races, wins, podiums, average percentage, top speed, plus training.

Average percentage, not average position. 20th of a thousand is far better than 10th of a hundred, and an average of raw positions would say exactly the opposite.
